Macrophages represent a fundamental component of the innate immune system that play a critical role in detecting and responding to pathogens as well as danger signals. Leishmania spp. infections lead to a notable alteration in macrophage metabolism, whereby infected cells display heightened energy metabolism that is linked to the integrity of host mitochondria.

The objective of this review is to identify and present the information available in the literature on the status quo of motivation among nursing program entrants. This is a qualitative scoping review study, a type of literature review designed to map out and find evidence to address a specific research objective, following the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology.

This study aimed to investigate the association between job satisfaction, workload, and psychological distress among CAPS professionals during the pandemic.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 53 professionals from seven CAPS.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Plectranthus ornatus is a medicinal plant originally from Africa but adapted to Brazil's climate conditions. It is recognized for its therapeutic properties, particularly for treating liver and stomach diseases, gastritis control, heartburn, and hangover. Therefore, studies on its chemical composition and pharmacological evaluation are important for the safe use of the plant.

The compound, administered at doses of 4, 20 and 40 mg/kg, did not show toxicity after 96 h of monitoring. In behavioural experiments with zebrafish, robinin did not cause significant changes in motor functions, but it impairs locomotor activity and demonstrates anxiolytic properties, evidenced by the increase in the time spent in the clean zone of the protector.

There is a gap in evidence regarding spatial clusters of the congenital toxoplasmosis (CT) and its association with social and health indicators in the Brazilian territory. Thus, we aimed herein to identify CT risk areas in Brazil and its association with social vulnerability and health indicators. An ecological and population-based study was conducted.

This scoping review aims to map and analyze the existing literature on the development of patient safety knowledge in undergraduate nursing education.
Methods: This study will follow the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology for scoping reviews and adhere to the PRISMA-ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses-Scoping Reviews) guidelines.
(1) Background: Cham is a Brazilian aromatic plant rich in phenolic compounds. In traditional medicine, its leaves are used to treat diseases of the Central Nervous System such as stress and anxiety. This study evaluates the capacity of the aqueous extract of as an anticonvulsant, anticholinesterase and antihemolytic agent.

For a subset of PROpel patients, steady-state concentrations of olaparib, abiraterone, and Δ-abiraterone were measured in blood samples collected before and at several time points after dose administration. The pharmacokinetics (PK) for each drug and metabolite were evaluated to determine whether any clinically relevant drug-drug interactions between olaparib and abiraterone occurred.

Aberrant transcripts include mRNAs with a premature termination codon (PTC), targeted by the nonsense-mediated decay (NMD) pathway, and mRNAs lacking a termination codon, targeted by the nonstop decay (NSD) pathway. The eukaryotic exosome, a ribonucleolytic complex, plays a crucial role in mRNA processing and turnover through its catalytic subunits PM/Scl100 (Rrp6 in yeast), DIS3 (Rrp44 in yeast), and DIS3L1.

The tested samples included natural coarse barks, and barks washed with water, ethanol-water, and NaOH solutions. The solvent-modified materials simulated the waste of the industrial extraction of saponins from bark.

Methods: Adults with stage IV/recurrent NSCLC and no sensitizing EGFR/ALK alterations were randomized to receive nivolumab plus ipilimumab with chemotherapy (n = 361) or chemotherapy (n = 358). Outcomes were assessed in all randomized patients and subgroups.
Direct encounters, in which two or more individuals are physically close to one another, are a topic of increasing interest as more and better movement data become available. Recent progress, including the development of statistical tools for estimating robust measures of changes in animals' space use over time, facilitates opportunities to link direct encounters between individuals with the long-term consequences of those encounters. Working with movement data for coyotes (Canis latrans) and grizzly bears (Ursus arctos horribilis), we investigate whether close intraspecific encounters were associated with spatial shifts in the animals' range distributions, as might be expected if one or both of the individuals involved in an encounter were seeking to reduce or avoid conflict over space.

Material And Methods: 603 preschoolers, enrolled in public preschools in Itajaí (state of Santa Catarina, Brazil), took part in the study. To assess the participants' socio-economic characteristics, an original questionnaire was formulated and sent to the children's parents.
Background: Leishmaniasis is a significant global public health issue that is caused by parasites from genus. With limited treatment options and rising drug resistance, there is a pressing need for new therapeutic approaches. Molecular chaperones, particularly Hsp90, play a crucial role in parasite biology and are emerging as promising targets for drug development.

Here, we discuss how neoadjuvant therapy has the potential to offer significant advantages over adjuvant treatment, further improving outcomes in some patients with skin cancers, including melanoma, Merkel cell carcinoma, and cutaneous squamous-cell carcinoma. Both preclinical studies and in vivo trials have demonstrated that exposure to immunotherapy prior to surgical resection can trigger a broader and more robust immune response, resulting in increased tumor cell antigen presentation and improved targeting by immune cells, potentially resulting in superior outcomes.

Objective: Our aim was to evaluate the impact of sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping on the risk of isolated positive para-aortic lymph node metastasis.
Methods: We retrospectively evaluated a series of 426 patients who underwent SLN mapping with at least one SLN detected from January 2013 to December 2021 (SLN group) compared with a historical series of 209 cases who underwent a systematic pelvic and para-aortic lymphadenectomy between June 2007 and April 2015 (LND group).

In the New World, dogs are considered the main reservoir of visceral leishmaniasis (VL). Due to inefficacies in existing treatments and the lack of an efficient vaccine, dog culling is one of the main strategies used to control disease, making the development of new therapeutic interventions mandatory. We previously showed that Tanespimycin (17-AAG), a Hsp90 inhibitor, demonstrated potential for use in leishmaniasis treatment.

Environmental cues enable the awareness of the presence of organisms targeted for elimination in the cyclic game. If the local density of target organisms is sufficiently high, individuals move towards concentrated areas for direct attack; otherwise, they employ an ambush tactic, maximising the chances of success by targeting regions likely to be dominated by opponents.
