Cyanobacteria have been genetically modified to convert CO into biochemical products, but efficient genetic engineering tools, including CRISPR-Cas systems, remain limited. This is primarily due to the polyploid nature of cyanobacteria, which hinders their effectiveness. Here, we address the latter by specifically (i) modifying the RSF1010-based replicative plasmid to simplify cloning efforts while maintaining high conjugation efficiency; (ii) improving the design of the guide RNA (gRNA) to facilitate chromosomal cleavage; (iii) introducing template DNA fragments as pure plasmids via natural transformation; and (iv) using sacB to facilitate replicative plasmid curing.

Investigations into neuroprotective drugs are in high demand for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as multiple sclerosis or Alzheimer's disease, but also psychiatric disorders, such as depression, trauma, and substance use. One potential drug class being investigated are tetracyclines impacting on a variety of neuroprotective mechanisms. At the same time, tetracyclines like doxycycline have been suggested to affect human fear and spatial memory as well as reducing declarative memory retention.

Objectives: Investigate the implications of Congenital Nasal Pyriform Aperture Stenosis (CNPAS) on neonatal nasal airflow through computational fluid dynamics (CFD), create a virtual rhinomanometry, and simulate the prospective outcomes post-virtual surgical intervention.

The emergence of new structures can often be linked to the evolution of novel cell types that follows the rewiring of developmental gene regulatory subnetworks. In classical singing, there are often problems with the intelligibility of sung text. The present study aims to test the hypotheses that (1) in loud operatic singing, compared with speaking, the intensity of voiceless plosives increases less than the intensity of vowels, leading to poorer recognition of plosives; and (2) pronouncing the plosive bursts with greater intensity improves their recognition. The acoustic analysis of nine opera arias in Italian from the Classical and Romantic periods performed by ten classically trained singers showed that the average difference in the intensity of vowels when sung and spoken was 14.
