A series of 14 patients had partial or, in one case, total excision of the lung for metastatic tumour originating in the large bowel. Two patients have survived long periods (9 years and 12 years) and are now apparently free of the disease. A third patient shows no recurrence after bilateral lobectomy 2 years ago.

All injuries resulted from motor vehicle accidents and were diagnosed and treated within 24 hours of admission to the hospital. A satisfactory result followed early suture repair of the ruptured bronchus in three cases.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFWe report the first recorded case of acute thrombotic occlusion of the superior vena cava successfully treated by disobliterative thrombectomy. The caval thrombosis was caused by the infusion into the superior vena cava, over a period of six days, of fluids, electrolytes, aminoacids, concentrated carbohydrates, and antibiotics. Over a period of four hours, the patient became moribund due to the development of the `wet brain syndrome'.
