Background: The efficacy of artificial intelligence (AI)-enhanced electrocardiography (ECG) for detecting hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and its dilated phase (dHCM) has been developed, though specific ECG characteristics associated with these conditions remain insufficiently characterized.
Methods: This retrospective study included 19,170 patients, with 140 HCM or dHCM cases, from the Shinken Database (2010-2017). The 140 cases (HCM-total) were categorized into basal-only HCM (HCM-basal, = 75), apical involvement (HCM-apical, = 46), and dHCM ( = 19).
Antegrade wiring (AW) is the prevailing chronic total occlusion (CTO) crossing technique. For proximal cap ambiguity, the Global CTO consensus group uses the "anatomy dictates strategy" method: 1) intravascular ultrasound; 2) move the cap; or 3) retrograde. For CTO body crossing, anatomy dictates 4 strategies: 1) CTOs with tapered stump-loose tissue tracking; 2) CTOs with clear intimal path-intentional intimal tracking with 3-dimensional (3D) wiring; 3) CTOs without a clear intimal path-intentional intimal tracking with intermediate penetration wire; and 4) the "long plus CTOs"-intentional subintimal wiring.

The mutations of breast cancer type 1 susceptibility gene (BRCA1) cause hereditary breast cancer. One of the medical revolutions of cancer therapy for BRCA1-mutated breast cancer is the drug approval of Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors because of the synthetic lethal interaction between BRCA1 mutation and PARP inhibition. Here, we report another synthetic lethal interaction between BRCA1 and TIMELESS interacting protein (TIPIN), the latter of which encodes a protein involved in DNA replication, DNA damage checkpoint and sister chromatid cohesion.

She had previously initiated dialysis due to rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis and was transferred to our hospital. Imaging studies revealed multiple cerebral and splenic infarcts and hemorrhage encapsulating the right kidney, likely due to microaneurysms in multiple renal arteries.

Successful bailout is typically defined as the disappearance of contrast extravasation after a haemostatic intervention. We report a case of recurrent cardiac tamponade in the subacute phase, wherein haemostasis appeared to have been achieved on angiography following the implantation of a covered stent during the index procedure.

However, the clinical significance of PVCs and NSVT in the absence of structural heart disease has not yet been fully elucidated. This study aimed to evaluate the association between PVCs, NSVT, and clinical outcomes.

Toxoplasma counteracts host immune defenses by secreting effector proteins into host cells; however, how the parasite evades lytic cell death and the effectors involved remain poorly characterized. We identified ROP55, a rhoptry protein that promotes parasite survival by preventing lytic cell death in absence of IFN-γ stimulation.

Methods: A total of 1478 older patients (492 men, 986 women) aged 65 years or older (mean age 85.
Bacterial infections on material surfaces are a serious public health concern worldwide. Although poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)-based materials have great potential as medical devices, they lack antibacterial properties on their surfaces and pose bacterial infection risks during implantation surgery. Copolymers containing antibacterial [2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium chloride (METAC) units were used to modify the surfaces of chemically cross-linked water-insoluble PVA-based microfibers.

Methods: Data for 101 patients aged 75 years or older (mean age, 84.3 years) with ESRD who were initiated on hemodialysis and could be followed up for a period of 6 months were reviewed.
Pericardial effusion (PE) presentation varies from an incidental finding to a life-threatening situation; thus, its etiology and clinical course remain unknown. The aim of the present study was to retrospectively investigate these factors. We analyzed 171 patients (0.

We previously showed that IL-1β release during Toxoplasma gondii infection of primary human monocytes requires the NLRP3 inflammasome and caspase-1 but is independent of gasdermin D and pyroptosis. To investigate mechanisms of IL-1β release, we generated caspase-1, -4, -5, or -8 knockout (KO) THP-1 monocytic cells.

This study was conducted to reveal whether higher prevalence of thyroid dysfunction is observed in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Methods: We examined thyroid functions and thyroid autoantibodies in 200 patients with type 2 diabetes and 225 controls, with 24 months follow up for those with type 2 diabetes.

Intracellular pathogens strike a delicate balance between maintaining their survival within infected cells, while also activating host defense mechanisms. Toxoplasma gondii is a protozoan parasite that initiates a variety of host signaling pathways as it invades host cells and establishes residence in a parasitophorous vacuole. Recent work has highlighted the interplay between T.

We also present pertinent case examples and offer practical tips to increase success and lower complications when performing CTO PCI in patients with low EF.
Recent Findings: In a prospective randomized control study, greater improvement in angina frequency and quality of life, assessed by the Seattle Angina Questionnaire, was achieved by CTO PCI compared to optimal medical therapy.
A 73-year-old Japanese woman, with a history of Sweet syndrome diagnosed 3 years earlier and anti-myeloperoxidase (MPO) antibody anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis diagnosed 1 year earlier, presented with an episode of rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis (RPGN) with anti-glomerular basement membrane (GBM) disease. At the time of diagnosis of the ANCA-associated vasculitis 1 year earlier, serological testing yielded a negative result for anti-GBM antibody. However, at the present visit, serology for anti-MPO antibody was negative, while that for anti-GBM antibody was positive.

The rice gene Xa1 encodes an NLR with an N-terminal BED domain, and recognizes transcription activator-like (TAL) effectors of Xanthomonas oryzae pv oryzae (Xoo). Our goal here was to elucidate the molecular mechanisms controlling the induction of immunity by Xa1.

Given the pathological link with CKD, a similar relationship may exist in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). We retrospectively evaluated 1,719 patients with AF and normal hepatic function who were registered in the Shinken Database between November 2011 and March 2017.
