Background: Implemented in 17 countries to date, seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) is a recommended strategy to prevent childhood malaria in areas with seasonal transmission of P. falciparum through monthly administration of antimalarial medicines. Understanding the costs and resource requirements of SMC delivery is necessary for effective planning and resource allocation.

The PD-1/PD-L1 pathway plays a significant role in inhibiting, escaping from immune response, and promoting self-tolerance of the tumour. Dostarlimab is a selective humanized monoclonal antibody designed to target PD-1 and block its activity with PD-L1, which further prevents the escape of tumour cells from immune surveillance. It got accelerated approval from the FDA for treating adults with mismatch repair deficient, recurrent, or advanced endometrial cancer, and studies confirmed its beneficial effects.

Most countries rolled out COVID-19 vaccination during 2021-2022. However, COVID-19 vaccine delivery cost estimates are still needed to support planning and budgeting to integrate COVID-19 vaccines into routine programs and to target high risk populations, specifically within resource-scarce contexts. Management Sciences for Health and the COVID-19 Vaccine Delivery Partnership Working Group collected country-level data through two surveys exploring global experiences with vaccine roll-out.

Surgeons need to visualize the facial nerve reliably in relation to the vestibular schwannoma (VS) in surgical planning. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) tractography has enabled unprecedented in vivo preoperative visualization. We collected data to measure the accuracy of DTI for an accurate location of the nerve in preoperative VS resection planning.

Pyridoxine-dependent seizures are a recognized, although rare, cause of intractable seizures in neonates. Patients with this autosomal recessive disorder have recurrent seizures that are resistant to conventional anticonvulsants but respond dramatically to intravenous administration of pyridoxine. Life-long supplementation with pyridoxine is required to prevent seizure recurrence.

Conventional chemotherapy of tuberculosis and leprosy requires rifampicin to be administered orally. The long period of treatment and adverse side effects of the drug lead to poor compliance. To overcome this, subdermal implants incorporating rifampicin in pure and micro-encapsulated forms with biodegradable material were used as a new drug delivery system in experimental tuberculosis of guinea pigs.

Response of Mycobacterium habana sensitized mouse cells against habanin (sonicated extract) lepromin (Dharmendra) and tuberculin has been studied in the leucocyte migration inhibition test. The homologous antigenic response has evoked maximum inhibition as compared to heterologous antigens but close antigenic association has also been observed with lepromin and tuberculin. With human cells from leprosy patients these antigens have evoked analogous response indicating cross immunogenicity of M.

A mild grade of liver damage in rabbits was produced by giving 23 subcutaneous injections of carbon tetrachloride (CCl4). The CCl4-treated rabbits and untreated controls were subsequently challenged with the mildly virulent strain of Mycobacterium avium Kirschberg (TMC 801). In two successive experiments it has been found that liver damage increased the susceptibility of rabbits to infection with this organism.
