Background: Masses and cysts in the heart are well-known entities, but their low prevalence and non-specific symptoms makes the diagnosis difficult. We aimed to characterize the features of these entities in our environment.
Methods: We carried out a search of patients who underwent surgery for tumors and cysts in the heart between 2002 and 2022 in the registry of the Department of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery of Clínica Universidad de Navarra (Pamplona, Spain).
Objective: To establish the influence of overweight/obesity, medicated hypothyroidism, and medicated non-syndromic hypogrowth on maxillary and mandibular growth.
Materials And Methods: The relation between 10 craniofacial anthropometric measurements and hypothyroidism (n = 216), overweight/obesity (n = 108), and non-syndromic hypogrowth (n = 250) were evaluated in patients aged 1-19 years and a control group of healthy patients (n = 587). A subgroup analysis was performed at the peak growth in all groups.
Pathogenic sequence changes in mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) are one of the most common causes of genetic hearing loss. We report an infant with palmoplantar hyperkeratosis, extrapalmoplantar cutaneous features and mitochondrial sensorineural hearing loss caused by the previously reported pathogenic NC_012920:m.7445A > G sequence change in the mitochondrial gene COX1 (COX1, MT-CO1).

However, the variability in the current clinical trials has averted its wide use in the current pandemic. We aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of CP in severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the early stages of the disease.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLipid bilayers play a very important role in every living organism. Generating a computer model for simulations provides a molecular scale picture that can unveil information difficult to obtain using traditional experiments. Here, a procedure to generate a computer model of a stable lipid bilayer structure is discussed.

The objective of this study was to assess the benefits of convalescent plasma treatment compared to placebo or no treatment and all-cause mortality in patients with COVID-19, using data from all available randomized clinical trials, including unpublished and ongoing trials (Open Science Framework, https://doi.org/10.

Accordingly, in the present paper, a protocol has been proposed for the study of the amination of cyclohexanone-to-secondary amines (Diphenylamine and N-Cyclohexylaniline) over heterogeneous catalysts. The results of activity and selectivity, and the elucidation of a plausible reaction pathway were described in a parent paper.

Therefore, the objective of this investigation was to examine the relationship between screen-time and sugar-consumption and possible SB in children.
Patients/methods: A cross-sectional study, including parents of 460 4- to 8-year-old children, was performed.
Background: The diagnosis of cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is based on demonstration of the presence of the parasite in samples obtained from the lesions by direct examination (DE), culture or polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based molecular tests. Recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) represents an isothermal version of the conventional PCR (cPCR) technique, being ideal for detecting Leishmania DNA, especially in field conditions.
Methods: A prospective and cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate the diagnostic performance of RPA in the health centres of rural endemic sites or the evaluation centre (EC) of 11 Colombian municipalities and in a reference centre (RC).
Background: Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are related to psychological factors. Adolescence is one of the stages in life with more psychosocial vulnerability, which is dissimilar in rural and urban zones. Thus, the aim of this investigation was to evaluate the association between psychological factors (symptoms of anxiety, depression and somatization) and TMD in adolescents between 12 and 15 years, belonging to urban and rural zones of Colombia.

Methods: Electronic patient records of 852 patients in 2020 and 1818 patients in 2019, attending the EED at a tertiary eye centre (University Hospitals of Leicester, UK) were analysed. Data was extracted over a 31-day period during: (study period 1 (SP1)) COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in UK (24th March 2020-23rd April 2020) and (study period 2 (SP2)) the equivalent 2019 period (24th March 2019-23rd April 2019).
The preparation of copper-based heterogeneous catalysts dedicated to the hydrogenation of CO to methanol typically relies on multi-step procedures carried out in batch. These steps are precisely tailored to introduce the active phase (Cu) and the promoters (e. g.

There are no studies concerning brain activation of the cortex comparing children with and without AOB during rest and activities such as deglutition and phonation. The aim of this study was to determine the activity of the brain cortex of children with AOB at rest and during phonation and deglutition and to evaluate the association of intelligence quotient (IQ), attention (Test of Variables of Attention, known as TOVA), beats per minute (BPM), and oxygen saturation measurement (SpO) with brain activity in subjects with AOB.

Materials And Methods: A Delphi process was used to perform the content validity of the DC/TMD Axis I. One hundred eighty-nine 7- to 11-year-old children were assessed with the adapted instrument.
Background: Molecular diagnostic tests, notably polymerase chain reaction (PCR), are highly sensitive test for Leishmania detection, which is especially relevant in chronic cutaneous lesion with lower parasite load. An accurate diagnosis is essential because of the high toxicity of the medications for the disease. Nevertheless, diagnosis of cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is hampered by the absence of a reference standard.

In Colombia, this waste presents an energy resource opportunity equivalent to over 49,106 TJ per year. However, several challenges related to this type of biomass, such as the moisture content, the irregular shapes, and the low bulk density, make its use difficult in current burners.

The dynamical and structural properties of ions in FO systems of varying NaCl or MgCl draw solution (DS) concentrations were calculated and correlated. Results indicate that FO systems with higher DS concentration caused ions to have lower hydration numbers and higher coordination numbers leading to lower diffusion coefficients.
