The genome of the subsocial cockroach was partially sequenced in one-twelfth of an Illumina HiSeq lane. The mitochondrial genome was assembled using MIRA software, yielding a circular molecule of 15,923 bp in length and deposited in GenBank under the accession number KY212743. As expected, the mitogenome contained 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer tRNAs and 2 ribosomal RNAs.

Strains 97/79T and A121, recovered respectively from human faeces and well water, were compared to currently known species of the genus Citrobacter using genotypic and phenotypic approaches. Multilocus sequence analysis based on housekeeping genes fusA, leuS, pyrG, rpoB and recN, showed that the two strains formed a distinct phylogenetic lineage within the genus Citrobacter. Average nucleotide identity (ANI) between strains 97/79T and A121 was 99.

We hypothesized that the stimulatory effect of darkness can offset the inhibitory effect of exogenous sucrose on photosynthesis. Source-sink relationship was perturbed in two sugarcane cultivars by imposing partial darkness, spraying a sucrose solution (50mM) and their combination.

To this end, we investigated 11 morphoagronomic characters and performed molecular genotyping, using 23 inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) primers in 46 accessions of J. curcas.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical, hormonal and radiological data of acromegaly patients treated with pegvisomant in our center. We also evaluated the presence of the d3 isoform of the growth hormone receptor (d3GHR).
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of five intracanal irrigants on bond strength of fiber posts cemented with newer self-adhesive resin cement.
Methods: A total of 60 extracted, single-rooted human premolars, sectioned at 14 mm, were prepared with the ProTaper Universal system with a size F3 instrument and filled with an F3 master cone and AH Plus. The root canal filling was partially removed, leaving 4 mm of apical gutta-percha.
The study aimed to estimate the incidence of HCV seroconversion in hemodialysis patients in the Brazilian Unified National Health System (SUS). This was a prospective, non-concurrent study using patients' data identified by deterministic and probabilistic record linkage in the SUS information system. The study included 47,079 patients started on hemodialysis between January 1, 2000, and December 31, 2003, followed until seroconversion or conclusion of the study in 2004.

The aim of this study is to characterize genetic backgrounds associated with bla KPC-3 among Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates recently identified on non-hospitalized patients in Portugal. The stratification of the Ra isotopes along water columns indicate differing natural sources. In sediments, the radium isotope activities was inversely proportional to the particle size.

It involved a descriptive and exploratory study with interviews applying qualitative methodology among 30 beauticians. Data were gathered using the semi-structured interview technique in Maringá, in the southern state of Paraná.

For this, four groups of samples were harvested at the maturation stage.

Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze single nucleotide polymorphisms of the receptor gene for the hormone melatonin in buffaloes from northern Brazil by polymerase chain reactions (PCRs) and restriction fragment length polymorphism assays. The PCR products exhibited a cutting point for HpaI at the 318th position of the gene, indicating a transition substitution (T↔C).

We reanalysed the morphology of the type specimen, as well as a female specimen postulated to represent the same taxon, and sequenced mitochondrial DNA (COI and Cyt-b) from both individuals. Furthermore, we visited the type locality, at the border between Goiás and Mato Grosso, and its environs on multiple occasions at different seasons, searching for birds with similar morphology to the type, without success.

In this study, the effects of a Brazilian green propolis extract on rumen fermentation and gas production were determined. The fate of propolis phenolic compounds in the rumen medium was also investigated.

Specific HPV types have been associated with premalignant lesions and invasive carcinoma, but mounting evidence suggests that within-type lineages and sublineages also display distinct biological characteristics associated with persistent infections and evolution to cervical cancer. In the present study, we have assessed HPV multiple infection and variation from a cohort of highly susceptible, HIV(+) pregnant women using next-generation sequencing and an in-house pipeline for HPV full-length genome assembly.

Drought is an environmental limitation affecting sugarcane growth and yield. The redox-active molecule nitric oxide (NO) is known to modulate plant responses to stressful conditions.

Methods: Eighty-one samples were recovered from healthy persons (n = 18), healthy animals (n = 33) and their environments (n = 10) or aquatic settings (n = 20) in south Angola (2013). Samples were plated onto CHROMagar™ Orientation with/without antibiotics.
The purpose was to determine the prevalence and related factors of vitamin D (VitD) insufficiency in adolescents and young adults with perinatally acquired human immunodeficiency virus. A cohort of 65 patients (17.6 ± 2 years) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, were examined for pubertal development, nutrition, serum parathormone and serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [s25(OH)D].

HPV was typed through L1 gene sequencing in cervical smears collected during gestation and at 12 months after delivery. Outcomes were defined as nonpersistence (clearance of the HPV in the 2nd sample), re-infection (detection of different types of HPV in the 2 samples), and type-specific HPV persistence (the same HPV type found in both samples).

We show that sarcomas gain these malignant traits by inducing lysosomal exocytosis, a ubiquitous physiological process. During lysosomal exocytosis, the movement of exocytic lysosomes along the cytoskeleton and their docking at the plasma membrane involve LAMP1, a sialylated membrane glycoprotein and target of the sialidase NEU1.

This interaction is mediated by the LDI/V tripeptide encoded in the V2-loop. This tripeptide mimics similar motifs in mucosal addressin cellular adhesion molecule (MAdCAM) and vascular CAM (VCAM), the natural ligands of α4β7.
