Transdermal drug delivery (TDD) is an attractive route of administration, providing several advantages, especially over oral and parenteral routes. However, TDD is significantly restricted due to the barrier imposed by the uppermost layer of the skin, the stratum corneum (SC). Microneedles is a physical enhancement technique that efficiently pierces the SC and facilitates the delivery of both lipophilic and hydrophilic molecules.

Deposition of molybdenum disulfide (MoS) coatings using physical vapor deposition (PVD) and mechanical burnishing has been widely assessed for solid lubricants in space applications but still suffers from line-of-sight constraints on complex geometries. Here, we highlight one of the first demonstrations of electrodeposited MoSO and MoSO/Ni thin-film coatings from aqueous solutions of ammonium tetrathiomolybdate for solid lubricant applications and their remarkable ability to provide low coefficients of friction and high wear resistance. Characterization of the coating morphology shows amorphous microstructures with a high oxygen content and cracking upon drying.

Background: Although many studies worldwide have reported on violence against health care workers, there is a lack of homogeneous data for understanding the current state of the issue. Conducting a global survey required a robust team organisation structure, unique dissemination strategies, and continual networking to maintain and propagate the pool of survey collaborators and responders. Here we aimed to describe the strategies that helped us carry out a global survey-based study, the lessons learned, and provide a practical roadmap for future large-scale cross-sectional studies.

Over the last three years, research has focused on examining cardiac issues arising from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection, including the emergence of new-onset atrial fibrillation (NOAF). Still, no clinical study was conducted on the persistence of this arrhythmia after COVID-19 recovery. Our objective was to compose a narrative review that investigates COVID-19-associated NOAF, emphasizing the evolving pathophysiological mechanisms akin to those suggested for sustaining AF.

Rapeseed is a crop of global importance but there is a need to broaden the genetic diversity available to address breeding objectives. Radiation mutagenesis, supported by genomics, has the potential to supersede genome editing for both gene knockout and copy number increase, but detailed knowledge of the molecular outcomes of radiation treatment is lacking. To address this, we produced a genome re-sequenced panel of 1133 M generation rapeseed plants and analysed large-scale deletions, single nucleotide variants and small insertion-deletion variants affecting gene open reading frames.
