In order to guide clinical blood transfusion practices for pediatric patients, the National Health Commission has released the health standard "Guideline for pediatric transfusion" (WS/T 795-2022). Considering the physiological particularities of the neonatal period, blood transfusion practices for neonates are more complex than those for other children, the guidelines include a separate chapter dedicated to neonatal blood transfusion. This paper interprets the background and evidence for the compilation of the neonatal blood transfusion provisions, hoping to aid in the understanding and implementation of the neonatal blood transfusion section of the guidelines.

Here, we report features of the monovalent Omicron XBB.1.

Materials And Methods: In total, 471 consecutive patients from three institutions were included in this study. Among them, patients from institution 1 were used for training (n = 294) and internal validation (n = 92), while 85 patients from institution 2 and institution 3 were used for external validation.
The peptide hormone glucagon is a fundamental metabolic regulator that is also being considered as a pharmacotherapeutic option for obesity and type 2 diabetes. Despite this, we know very little regarding how glucagon exerts its pleiotropic metabolic actions. Given that the liver is a chief site of action, we performed in situ time-resolved liver phosphoproteomics to reveal glucagon signaling nodes.

With the development of arthroscopic techniques as well as arthroscopic surgical instruments, arthroscopic repair of bony structures has become an important surgical procedure for the treatment of recurrent shoulder dislocation. In this Technical Note, we used screws to fill Hill-Sachs lesions and autologous iliac bone grafts combined with soft tissue to repair the glenoid bone defects.

We investigate M-loci genomically and cytogenetically revealing distinct molecular architectures among M-loci. M on chromosome V (M) has two intact Mdmd copies in a palindrome.

In cancer treatment, therapeutic strategies that integrate tumor-specific characteristics (i.e., precision oncology) are widely implemented to provide clinical benefits for cancer patients.

Objective: To assess the efficacy of VMMC in preventing incident HIV infection among MSM.
Background: Dysregulated interleukin (IL)-17/IL-23 signalling contributes to psoriasis pathogenesis. Cedirogant is an inverse agonist of nuclear receptor ROR-gamma isoform 2 (RORyt), a key transcription factor responsible for IL-17 synthesis and a regulator of the T helper 17 cell lineage programme.
Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of cedirogant to treat moderate-to-severe psoriasis.

Emerging and recurrent infectious diseases caused by human coronaviruses (HCoVs) continue to pose a significant threat to global public health security. In light of this ongoing threat, the development of a broad-spectrum drug to combat HCoVs is an urgently priority. Herein, we report a series of anti-pan-coronavirus ssDNA aptamers screened using Systematic Evolution of Ligands by Exponential Enrichment (SELEX).

Previously, we showed that the administration of human mRNA predominantly expressed in the gene-trapped mouse liver augmented the expression of hepatic GALT activity, which decreased not only galactose-1 phosphate (gal-1P) in the liver but also peripheral tissues. Since each peripheral tissue requires distinct methods to examine the biomarker and/or GALT effect, this highlights the necessity for alternative strategies to evaluate the overall impact of therapies.

Purpose To develop a new coronary CT angiography (CCTA)-based index, α×LL/MLD, that considers lesion entrance angle (α) in addition to lesion length (LL) and minimal lumen diameter (MLD) and to evaluate its efficacy in predicting hemodynamically significant coronary stenosis compared with invasive coronary angiography (ICA)-derived fractional flow reserve (FFR). Materials and Methods This prospective study enrolled participants (September 2016-March 2020) from two centers who underwent CCTA followed by ICA (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT03054324).

Methods: A longitudinal cohort included 115 eyes (46 glaucoma suspect and 66 primary open-angle glaucoma) of 81 patients having ≥2 year follow-up, and ≥4 visits with optical coherence tomography angiography and visual field (VF). Eyes in the longitudinal cohort with a slope greater than that found in 95 percentile of separate healthy test-retest series for FAZ area were categorised into FAZ progressors; all other eyes were defined as FAZ non-progressors.
Purpose: To examine the time to detectable retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (RNFLT) progression by optical coherence tomography (OCT) among glaucoma patients of African descent (AD) and European descent (ED).
Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Methods: AD and ED glaucoma eyes from the Diagnostic Innovations in Glaucoma Study (DIGS)/African Descent and Glaucoma Evaluation Study (ADAGES) with ≥2 years/4 visits of optic nerve head RNFLT measurements were included after homogenization on age, diagnosis, and baseline visual field (VF) measurement.
HMGB1 is a key late inflammatory mediator upregulated during air-pollution-induced oxidative stress. Extracellular HMGB1 accumulation in the airways and lungs plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of inflammatory lung injury. Decreasing extracellular HMBG1 levels may restore innate immune cell functions to protect the lungs from harmful injuries.

This study aimed to evaluate whether 60-keV virtual monoenergetic images of the pediatric cranium in dual-layer CT can reduce the radiation dose while maintaining image quality compared with conventional images.
Materials And Methods: One hundred six unenhanced pediatric head scans acquired by dual-layer CT were retrospectively assessed.
