Background: Neoadjuvant or adjuvant immunotherapy can improve outcomes in patients with resectable non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Perioperative regimens may combine benefits of both to improve long-term outcomes.
Methods: We randomly assigned patients with resectable NSCLC (stage II to IIIB [N2 node stage] according to the eighth edition of the ) to receive platinum-based chemotherapy plus durvalumab or placebo administered intravenously every 3 weeks for 4 cycles before surgery, followed by adjuvant durvalumab or placebo intravenously every 4 weeks for 12 cycles.
Coxsackievirus B (CVB) infection of pancreatic β cells is associated with β-cell autoimmunity. We investigated how CVB impacts human β cells and anti-CVB T-cell responses. β cells were efficiently infected by CVB , downregulated HLA Class I and presented few, selected HLA-bound viral peptides.

A previous trial of concizumab (explorer4) established proof of concept in patients with hemophilia A or B with inhibitors.
Methods: We conducted the explorer7 trial to assess the safety and efficacy of concizumab in patients with hemophilia A or B with inhibitors.
Aim: To analyze the correlation between intestinal ultrasound (IUS) and serum and fecal biomarkers, and the characteristics of small bowel disease, for the assessment of active bowel inflammation.
Methods: Patients with Crohn's disease (CD) who underwent an initial IUS examination between July 2018 and November 2022 at our institution were included retrospectively. We divided small and large bowels into seven segments, and recorded the presence of active inflammation according to following criteria: bowel wall thickness ≥ mm with ≥1 of feature of active disease on IUS.
Pre-metastatic niche formation is a critical step during the metastatic spread of cancer. One way by which primary tumors prime host cells at future metastatic sites is through the shedding of tumor-derived microparticles as a consequence of vascular sheer flow. However, it remains unclear how the uptake of such particles by resident immune cells affects their phenotype and function.

However, the cell-specific effect of variants in these genes is not fully understood. Here, we perform single-nucleus RNA-sequencing (snRNA-seq) on nearly 300,000 nuclei from the parietal cortex of AD autosomal dominant (APP and PSEN1) and risk-modifying variant (APOE, TREM2 and MS4A) carriers.

Purpose To identify preoperative radiogenomic signatures of estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer associated with the Oncotype DX recurrence score (RS) and to evaluate whether they are biomarkers for survival and responses to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT). Materials and Methods In this retrospective multicohort study, three data sets were analyzed.

Functional cure rates are low with current treatment options (nucleos(t)ide analogs (NAs) and pegylated interferons). Bepirovirsen is an antisense oligonucleotide targeting all HBV messenger RNAs; in cell culture and animal models, bepirovirsen leads to reductions in HBV-derived RNAs, HBV DNA and viral proteins.

Design: Systematic review and meta-analysis.
Methods: A comprehensive search of Cochrane CENTRAL, MEDLINE Ovid, and Embase Ovid for randomized controlled trials comparing ERM/ILM with ERM was performed.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFTargeted protein degradation (TPD) refers to the use of small molecules to induce ubiquitin-dependent degradation of proteins. TPD is of interest in drug development, as it can address previously inaccessible targets. However, degrader discovery and optimization remains an inefficient process due to a lack of understanding of the relative importance of the key molecular events required to induce target degradation.

However, its single dielectric-type loss and excessive high conductivity seriously restrict the further enhancement of MA performance. Herein, we first describe a simple spray-drying routine to reshape the 2D MXene into a confined and magnetized microsphere with tightly embedded FeO nanospheres (designated as M/F), contributing to the enhanced specific interfaces and strong dielectric polarization.

This study evaluated CRPS patients who successfully removed their SCSs.
Methods: This 10-year retrospective study was performed on patients who had received the permanent implantation of an SCS and had removed it 6 months after discontinuation of stimulation, while halting all medications for neuropathic pain.
Background: Recently, a number of studies have advocated the diagnostic benefit of contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) in the current ultrasound (US)-based preoperative evaluation of thyroid cancer. However, no study has been conducted to optimize a CECT protocol focusing on tumor conspicuity using a multi-detector CT scanner. This study aimed at determining the optimal scan delay for increased CT attenuation differences between thyroid cancer and parenchymal background using a biphasic CECT examination.

Methods: This study included a total of 33 consecutive VLBW infants with clinically diagnosed meconium obstruction underwent US-guided water-soluble contrast enema, from April 2007 to March 2014. Patients were classified into two groups based on to procedure outcome: the success group (evacuation of the meconium plug resolution followed by improved bowel distention within 2 days of the procedure, without additional interventions), and the failure group (the contrast enema failed to relieve the obstruction, or other procedure-related complications occurred).
Introduction: Most cases of burns occurring in medical institutions are associated with activities involving heat. It is very difficult to detect these burns. To date, there are few reports on burns occurring in medical institutions.

Multiple and repeated diagnostic scans might be performed in these patients during admission. Nevertheless, radiation exposure in injury patients has been overlooked and underestimated because of the emergent nature of such situations.

Methods: Resnick insisted that the C1 posterior arch could be divided into pure posterior and lateral lamina (C1 pedicle). Authors studied where this transition point (TP) is located between the posterior lamina and the C1 pedicle and how it can be recognized.
Background And Objectives: Pentraxin 3 (PTX3) was shown to be elevated in the acute phase of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and to have prognostic significance in AMI patients. The aim of this study was to estimate whether the value of PTX3 could be used as a prognostic biomarker, with the global registry of acute coronary events (GRACE) risk assessment tool, in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
Subjects And Methods: Between July 2007 and June 2008, 137 patient subjects (mean age : 61±12 years, M : F=108 : 29) with ACS who underwent coronary intervention, but did not have a prior percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and/or follow-up coronary angiogram, were enrolled.
