Candida auris Outbreak and Epidemiologic Response in Burn Intensive Care Unit, Illinois, USA, 2021-2023.

Candida auris is an emerging fungal pathogen associated with outbreaks in healthcare settings. We report a multiyear outbreak of C. auris in a burn intensive care unit in Illinois, USA, during 2021-2023.

Measurement of femtosecond incoherent XUV pulses using shot-noise-driven fluctuations in plasma betatron sources.

The duration of incoherent XUV pulses down to the femtoseconds (fs) can be retrieved through a statistical analysis of the modulations on the observed radiation spectrum. Uncorrelated shot-noise fluctuations in the pulse temporal profile result in incoherent radiation showing a multispike spectrum where the spike width is inversely proportional to the pulse length. In this Letter, single-shot temporal characterization of the betatron radiation pulses emitted by fs-long, 100's MeV electron bunches undergoing acceleration, and propagating through a plasma wiggler was performed in the XUV domain.

Population pharmacokinetics and dosing of dispersible moxifloxacin formulation in children with rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis.

Aims: Moxifloxacin is a priority drug for treating rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis (RR-TB). We assessed the pharmacokinetics of a child-friendly, dispersible 100 mg tablet moxifloxacin formulation (dispersed in water) compared to the standard 400 mg non-dispersible formulation (crushed and suspended in water) in children and evaluated current dosing recommendations.

Methods: The CATALYST trial investigated the pharmacokinetics of moxifloxacin in children with RR-TB.
