A novel, simple, and accurate pulse oximetry indicator for screening adult obstructive sleep apnea.

Objective: The objective of the study was to develop a multiparametric oximetry indicator (IMp-SpO2) to diagnose obstructive sleep apnea in adults.

Material And Method: This was an observational, retrospective study of diagnostic accuracy. We included adults who had had a diagnostic polysomnography with few artifacts and a total sleep time of at least 180 min in the sleep laboratory.

Effect of cerium on growth and antioxidant metabolism of Lemna minor L.

An increasing input rate of rare earth elements in the environment is expected because of the intense extraction of such elements form their ores to face human technological needs. In this study Lemna minor L. plants were grown under laboratory conditions and treated with increasing concentrations of cerium (Ce) ions to investigate the effects on plant growth and antioxidant systems.

Trumpet mouthpiece manufacturing and tone quality.

This article investigates the relationship between the shape of the mouthpiece and its acoustical properties in brass instruments. The hypothesis is that not only different volumes but also particular cup shapes affect the embouchure and the tone quality in both a physical and perceivable way. Three professional trumpet players were involved, and two different internal cup contours characterized by a "U" and a "V" shape with two types of throat junction (round and sharp) were chosen, based on a Vincent Bach 1 [1/2] C medium mouthpiece.
