A Structural Analysis of the Angucycline-Like Antibiotic Auricin from Subsp. CCM 3239 Revealed Its High Similarity to Griseusins.

We previously identified the gene cluster in subsp. CCM 3239 (formerly CCM 3239), which is responsible for the production of the angucycline-like antibiotic auricin (). Preliminary characterization of revealed that it possesses an aminodeoxyhexose d-forosamine and is active against Gram-positive bacteria.

Absence of keratin 1 restricts the course of infection with lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus strain MX.

A rodent-transmitted enveloped lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) is an RNA virus causing persistent infection. During persistent infection, a unique strain MX of LCMV does not yield infectious virions, therefore it is not able to use a receptor for its dissemination, and spreads by cell-to-cell contacts. Virus can be transported to the neighboring cell by different cellular structures such as tunneling nanotubes or cytonemes.

Silencing of carbonic anhydrase I enhances the malignant potential of exosomes secreted by prostatic tumour cells.

We report results showing that the silencing of carbonic anhydrase I (siCA1) in prostatic (PC3) tumour cells has a significant impact on exosome formation. An increased diameter, concentration and diversity of the produced exosomes were noticed as a consequence of this knock-down. The protein composition of the exosomes' cargo was also altered.
