At over 200 years, the maximum lifespan of the bowhead whale exceeds that of all other mammals. The bowhead is also the second-largest animal on Earth, reaching over 80,000 kg. Despite its very large number of cells and long lifespan, the bowhead is not highly cancer-prone, an incongruity termed Peto's Paradox.

The heightened sensitivity of DNA typing techniques, paired with the extensive use of trace DNA in forensic investigations, has resulted in an increased need to understand how and when DNA is deposited on surfaces of interest. This study focussed on the transfer, persistence, and prevalence of trace DNA in a single occupation of an office space by an intruder, when all contacts made during occupation and for the two hours prior and post occupation were known. The extent to which DNA could be recovered from contacted/not contacted surfaces was investigated.

Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the incidence, surgical management of major vascular complications, and outcomes in patients undergoing transfemoral (TF) transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) at our center after strict selection of the access route, carefully considering all known major predictors.

Methods: Data of 494 consecutive patients with pre-interventional multi-slice computed tomography (CT) of the aorta who had undergone TF TAVR from 2009 to 2019 were analyzed.

Results: In total, 23/494 (4.

Objectives: Hypertension and uncontrolled high blood pressure (BP) are more prevalent among less-educated older adults than those with more schooling. However, these dichotomous indicators may fail to fully characterize educational disparities in BP, a continuous measure that predicts morbidity and mortality across much of its range. This study therefore focuses on the distribution of BP, assessing educational disparities across BP percentiles in addition to disparities in hypertension and uncontrolled BP.

Objectives: The prevalence of dementia varies geographically in the United States. However, the extent to which this variation reflects contemporary place-based experiences versus embodied exposures from earlier in the life course remains unclear, and little is known regarding the intersection of place and subpopulation. This study, therefore, evaluates whether and how risk for assessed dementia varies by place of residence and birth, overall and by race/ethnicity and education.
