An increase of MMP-9 serum levels predicts disease activity in relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). Interferon-beta (IFN-beta), which is an established treatment for RRMS, inhibits T-cell migration in vitro in parallel with the downregulation of MMP expression.
