Objective: This study aimed to assess the agreement between direct intra-arterial pressure and ClearSight finger cuff arterial pressure measurements in elderly patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).

Methods: A prospective observational study was conducted at Hitachi General Hospital, Japan, involving 30 patients aged 65 years and older who underwent TAVR under general anesthesia. Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the usefulness of laparoscopic surgery for patients with postoperative abdominal symptoms, including chronic recurrent small-bowel obstruction (SBO), and preoperative examinations of barium follow-through and computed tomography (CT) to predict the postoperative outcomes of laparoscopic surgery.

Methods: Between 2016 and 2018, 49 patients with postoperative symptoms were treated by laparoscopic surgery at our institute. The data from two preoperative examinations were available for 42 patients.

Surfactant protein D (SP-D) is a member of the collectin family of proteins, which is secreted by airway epithelial cells. SP-D serves an important role in the immune system and in the inflammatory regulation of the lung. SP-D was recently found to suppress lung cancer progression by downregulating epidermal growth factor signaling.
