Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive and ultimately fatal disorder of unknown etiology, characterized by interstitial fibrosis of the lungs. Bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis mouse model (BLM model) is a widely used animal model to evaluate therapeutic targets for IPF. Histopathological analysis of lung fibrosis is an important method for evaluating BLM model.

Effects of forearm rotation on wrist flexor and extensor muscle activities.

The forearm muscles coordinately control wrist motion, and their activity is affected by forearm rotation. Although forearm rotation has been implicated in the development of lateral and medial epicondylitis, its biomechanical background remains unknown. Therefore, the present study investigated the activity of wrist muscles in various forearm positions.

Angiogenesis begins as endothelial cells migrate, forming a sprouting tip and subsequent growth-rich stalk cells. Here, we present a protocol for transcriptomic and epigenomic analyses of tip-like cells in cultured endothelial cells. We describe steps for stimulating human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) with vascular endothelial cell growth factor (VEGF) to generate tip-like cells.

Ruptured distal anterior cerebral artery aneurysm presenting with acute subdural hematoma without subarachnoid hemorrhage.

We report a case of distal anterior cerebral artery (DACA) aneurysm presenting with subdural hematoma (SDH) without subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). A patient in his fifties presented with headache. Fluid-attenuated inversion recovery magnetic resonance imaging revealed SDH in the interhemispheric fissure and left frontotemporal region.

Efficacy and Limitations of Continuous Local Antibiotic Perfusion in Treating Surgical Site Infections Following Instrumented Spinal Surgery: A Retrospective Multicenter Study.

Introduction: Surgical site infection (SSI) is one of the most serious postoperative complications following instrumented spinal surgery. We previously reported the potential of continuous local antibiotic perfusion (CLAP) to retain implants for patients with SSI following instrumented spinal surgery. We conducted a retrospective multicenter study to elucidate the efficacy and limitations of CLAP for patients with SSI following instrumented spinal surgery.
