Chapter 11: Astrobiology Education, Engagement, and Resources.

Although astrobiology is a relatively new field of science, the questions it seeks to answer ( "What is life?" "What does life require?") have been investigated for millennia. In recent decades, formal programs dedicated specifically to the science of astrobiology have been organized at academic, governmental, and institutional scales. Constructing educational programs around this emerging science relies on input from broad expertise and backgrounds.

Chapter 1: The Astrobiology Primer 3.0.

The Astrobiology Primer 3.0 (ABP3.0) is a concise introduction to the field of astrobiology for students and others who are new to the field of astrobiology.

Dietary Intake, Biological Status, and Barriers towards Omega-3 Intake in Elite Level (Tier 4), Female Athletes: Pilot Study.

Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (-3 PUFA) have unique properties which benefit athlete populations. The literature investigating NCAA collegiate, rugby sevens and German endurance athletes indicates suboptimal -3 PUFA dietary intake and biological status. The aims of this study were: (i) to explore the dietary intakes and FA profiles of elite level, team-based, female athletes and (ii) to understand perceived barriers towards achieving -3 dietary guidelines.

Perioperative changes in left ventricular systolic function following surgical revascularization.

Background: Nearly 1/3rd of patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG) have left ventricular systolic dysfunction. However, the extent, direction and implications of perioperative changes in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) have not been well characterized in these patients.

Methods: We studied the changes in LVEF among 549 patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction (LVEF <50%) who underwent CABG as part of the Surgical Treatment for Ischemic Heart Failure (STICH) trial.

Incidental coronary calcium in cancer patients treated with anthracycline and/or trastuzumab.

Aims: Cancer patients are at increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) after treatment with potentially cardiotoxic treatments. Many cancer patients undergo non-gated chest computed tomography (NCCT) for cancer staging prior to treatment. We aimed to assess whether coronary artery calcification on NCCT predicts CVD risk in cancer patients.
