Assessment of volume status of pediatric hemodialysis patients.

Background: Accurate volume status assessment and dry weight achievement are the most challenging goals for a nephrologist. We aimed to evaluate the role of ultrasonographic parameters including lung ultrasound and inferior vena cava (IVC) measurements as practical methods of volume status assessment in children on hemodialysis by comparing them with established techniques, such as clinical evaluation and bioimpedance spectroscopy.

Methods: A prospective cross-sectional study compared pre- and post-dialysis volume status using bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS) parameters and clinical data with ultrasonographic lung B-lines and IVC parameters in children on regular hemodialysis.

Vascular access challenges in hemodialysis children.

Background: Hemodialysis (HD) success is dependent mainly on vascular access (VA). The aim of this study is to share the experience of Pediatric Nephrology Unit (PNU), Cairo University Children's Hospital (CUCH), with VA-related obstacles in end stage kidney disease (ESKD) HD children.

Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of VA related data of 187 ESKD children received regular HD over 3 year duration (2019-2021).

A Novel Enhancement Approach Following MVMD and NMF Separation of Complex Snoring Signals.

Snoring is a prominent characteristic of sleep-disordered breathing, and its detection is critical for determining the severity of the upper airway obstruction and improving daily quality of life. Home snoring analysis is a highly invasive method, but it becomes challenging when a sleeping partner also snores, leading to distorted evaluations in such environments. In this article, we tackle the problem of complex snore signal separation of multiple snorers.

Promoting weaning practices and growth of Egyptian infants by using communication for behavioral development approach.

Background: Access to various affordable and nutritious foods is considered a challenging factor for households with limited resources affecting the proper weaning practices. In order to motivate communities to adhere to the right and proper weaning practices, the social aspect should be considered through close communication with the targeted communities. This study aimed to evaluate how impactful the use of the principles of Communication for Development (C4D) that respect parents' beliefs and their cultural norms is in improving the weaning practices and growth of infants in an Egyptian village.
