Background: Acute psychosocial stress activates the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and triggers the release of cortisol, a commonly used biomarker of stress reactivity. Yet only 25 % of studies have reported a correlation between cortisol and affective responses to stress. This study aimed to examine whether cortisol reactivity following an acute psychosocial stressor in the laboratory correlated with concurrent positive and negative affect in adolescents, and whether early life adversity (ELA) moderated this relationship.

Microbial polyketides represent a structurally diverse class of secondary metabolites with medicinally relevant properties. Aromatic polyketides are produced by type II polyketide synthase (PKS) systems, each minimally composed of a ketosynthase-chain length factor (KS-CLF) and a phosphopantetheinylated acyl carrier protein (-ACP). Although type II PKSs are found throughout the bacterial kingdom, and despite their importance to strategic bioengineering, type II PKSs have not been well-studied .

Among flaviviruses, Zika virus (ZIKV) is the only arbovirus officially recognized as a teratogenic agent, as a consequence of its ability to infect and cross the placental barrier causing congenital malformation in the fetus. While many studies have focused on understanding ZIKV pathogenesis during pregnancy, the viral mechanisms affecting fetal development remain largely unclear. In this study, we investigated ZIKV virulence in placental trophoblasts, using viruses with distinct lipid profiles.

A major paradigm shift in the diagnosis, management, and survival outcomes of early and advanced non-small cell lung cancer has transpired over the past few decades in thoracic oncology with the incorporation of molecular testing, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, neoadjuvant, and adjuvant approaches. However, transformation in the management and survival outcomes of rare lung tumors is lacking. Given the scarcity of these tumor types, randomized trials are rarely performed, and treatment is extrapolated from case series, tumor-agnostic trials, or cancers with similar histology.

Background: Thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) is a rare, life-threatening disorder characterized by microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and end-organ damage. Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) is even less common, comprising less than 10% of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) cases. aHUS in postpartum is associated with poor maternal outcomes, with the majority of cases resulting in end-stage renal disease.
