Delayed gastric emptying following pancreatoduodenectomy with alimentary reconstruction according to Roux-en-Y or Billroth-II.

Background: Delayed gastric emptying (DGE) remains the most frequent complication following pancreatoduodenectomy (PD) with published incidences as high as 61%. The present study investigates the impact of bowel reconstruction techniques on DGE following classic PD (Whipple-Kausch procedure) with pancreatogastrostomy (PG).

Methods: We included 168 consecutive patients who underwent PD with PG with either Billroth II type (BII, n = 78) or Roux-en-Y type reconstruction (ReY, n = 90) between 2004 and 2015.

[Clinical Trial to Test the iFuse Implant System® in Patients with Sacroiliac Joint Syndrome: One Year Results].

This study reports one year post-operative monitoring of the efficacy and safety of iFuse Implant System® in patients with sacroiliac joint syndrome. After 6 months of inadequate conservative treatment, patients with properly proven ISG syndrome were selected for surgery. The iFuse implants had a triangular profile and coating of porous titanium plasma spray and were used in the minimally invasive procedures.

A novel sternal closure technique with implants suitable for complex dehiscences.

A novel sternum stabilization implant system is presented in a complex clinical case with previous pseudarthroses. The authors used the advanced closure system Sternal Talon of KLS Martin group and arranged 1 double and 2 single implants in an atypical fashion to fit the patient's needs. One year later follow up has not revealed any recurrence of pain or pseudarthrotic signs such as crepitation.

[Redo procedures in patients with pancreatic left resection].

Background: Distal pancreatectomy is performed less frequently than pancreatic head resection. Secondary operations due to postoperative complications are surgically complex and demanding, hence often interdisciplinary approaches are pursued. We have analysed the indications and outcome of revision surgery and interventional procedures subsequent to pancreatic left resection.
