Background: Tamuzimod (VTX002) is a selective sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor 1 modulator in development for ulcerative colitis. We aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of tamuzimod in patients with moderately-to-severely active ulcerative colitis.

Methods: This double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled, phase 2 induction trial was conducted at 122 centres across 15 countries in Asia, Europe, and North America.

In recent years, significant resistance of microorganisms to antibiotics has been observed. A biofilm is a structure that significantly aids the survival of the microbial population and also significantly affects its resistance. Thyme and clove essential oils (EOs) were subjected to chemical analysis using gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and gas chromatography with a flame ionization detector (GC-FID).

Childhood obesity is a significant public health issue. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of overweight and obesity among 8- and 9-year-old children in Szczecin, Poland, and unlike other studies to assess differences in nutritional status within a single urban agglomeration of nearly 500,000 residents, it was influenced by place of residence and socioeconomic status. The study included 4705 children (2327 boys and 2378 girls) aged 8 and 9 years, attending 50 primary schools in Szczecin (45 public, 5 private) across four districts: North, Right Bank, City Center, and West.

High-entropy alloys are of interest to many researchers due to the possibility of shaping their functional properties by, among other things, the use of alloying additives. One approach to improving the wear resistance of the AlCoCrFeNi alloy is modification through the addition of titanium. However, in this study, an alternative solution was explored by adding vanadium, which has a completely different effect on the material's structure compared to titanium.

Ubiquitin-related modifier 1 (Urm1) is a highly conserved member of the ubiquitin-like (UBL) family of proteins. Urm1 is a key component of the eukaryotic transfer RNA (tRNA) thiolation cascade, responsible for introducing sulfur at wobble uridine (U34) in several eukaryotic tRNAs. Urm1 must be thiocarboxylated (Urm1-SH) by its E1 activating enzyme UBL protein activator 4 (Uba4).
