The electrification of chemical processes using plasma generates an increasing demand for sensors, monitoring concentrations of plasma-activated species such as radicals. Radical probes are a low-cost in situ method for spatially resolved quantification of the radical density in a plasma afterglow using the heat from the exothermal recombination of radicals on a catalytic surface. However, distinguishing recombination heating from other heat fluxes in the system is challenging.

Our work aimed to examine nanoparticle levels in 69 distinct pooled mussel samples along the Norwegian coastline, considering samples from different environmental contexts, including natural locations, potentially polluted hotspots, and mussel farms. Single-particle ICP-MS was utilized to determine particle mass and number concentrations at environmentally relevant levels in addition to the total content of 11 elements: aluminum, barium, cerium, copper, iron, manganese, lead, silicon, silver, titanium, and zirconium. Results showed nanoparticle mass concentrations of few ng/g up to tens of μg/g and number concentrations of 10 to 10 particles/g (wet weight).

This work presents a detailed investigation aimed at understanding the key mechanisms governing nitric oxide (NO) production in N-O discharges by systematically comparing experimental results to modeling data. The experimental phase capitalizes on radiofrequency (13.56 MHz) discharges, sustained at 5 mbar pressure conditions, featuring varying concentrations of oxygen, ranging from pure N plasma to air-like mixtures.

Demand for n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFAs) exceeds supply. Large-scale studies on effects of season and geography of n-3 PUFAs in marine fish from the Northeast Atlantic Ocean (NEAO) may be used to optimize utilization and improve nutrition security. Using a sinusoid model, seasonal cycles of n-3 PUFAs were determined and found to be species-specific and clearly pronounced for the pelagic zooplankton feeding species.

To determine if the United States reference values of the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, version III motor scale are suitable for Surinamese infants, we assessed 151 healthy infants at 3, 12, 24 and 36 months of age. The mean fine motor, gross motor, and composite scores of the total group did not significantly differ from the US norms, although some significant but not clinically relevant differences were found (lower fine motor scores at 12 months, lower gross motor and total composite scores at 24 months, and higher scores for gross motor and composite scores at 3 months).
