Norovirus infections in the Czech Republic in 2008-2020.

Introduction: Noroviruses, together with rotaviruses, are the most common cause of viral gastroenteritis in the Czech Republic (CR). The aim of this study was to analyse data on the incidence of norovirus gastroenteritis in the CR and thus to add to the body of knowledge about its significance.

Material And Methods: A descriptive analysis was performed of the basic characteristics of norovirus gastroenteritis reported under ICD-10 code A08.

Clostridium difficile infection and colonisation in children under 3 years of age: prospective comparative study.

Aims: Despite an increasing trend in Clostridium difficile infections (CDI) and high C. difficile colonization rate especially among younger children, infants remain quite resistant to the disease. The goals of this study were to distinguish whether there exists a difference in CDI between children with or without diarrhoea, ascertain the prevalence of CDI, and assess CDI severity in children under 3 years with diarrhoea in our institution.

Clinical and microbiological characteristics of Clostridium difficile infection in children hospitalized at the Departement of Paediatric Infectious Diseases in Brno between 2013 and 2017.

Escherichia coli isolates from patients with inflammatory bowel disease: ExPEC virulence- and colicin-determinants are more frequent compared to healthy controls.

A set of 178 Escherichia coli isolates taken from patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) was analyzed for bacteriocin production and tested for the prevalence of 30 bacteriocin and 22 virulence factor determinants. Additionally, E. coli phylogenetic groups were also determined.
