We hypothesized that in vitro treatment of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PB-MNCs) from diabetic patients with ephrin-B2/Fc (EFNB2) improves their proangiogenic therapeutic potential in diabetic ischemic experimental models. Diabetes was induced in nude athymic mice by streptozotocin injections. At 9 weeks after hyperglycemia, 10(5) PB-MNCs from diabetic patients, pretreated by EFNB2, were intravenously injected in diabetic mice with hindlimb ischemia.

In this article, we examine the results from meta-analyses of studies that have focused on the effects of supervised exercise in patients with established type 2 diabetes mellitus. Exercise has been clearly demonstrated to have benefits on blood glucose control (average reduction of glycated hemoglobin, 0.6%) and cardiovascular risk factors.

The aim of this review is to answer the question "how to detect the gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) between 24 and 28 weeks of gestation?". Two approaches are well established: one-step approach (75 g-OGTT) and two-steps approach (50 g followed 100g-OGTT). The analysis of the literature shows that each of these methods has a good reproducibility close to 80 %, without requiring preliminary dietetics.

The aim of this review is to provide answers to the question “How does one screen for and diagnose gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) between 24 and 28 weeks gestation?” Two methods are currently widely used: a one-step approach (the 75g-Oral Glucose Tolerance Test, OGTT) and a two-step approach (the 50g Glucose Challenge Test, GCT, followed by 100g-OGTT). A review of the literature showed that both methods had good reproducibility (around 80%), whilst neither required preliminary diet changes. The data of the Hyperglycaemia Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes (HAPO) study on materno-foetal morbidity provided consistent support in favour of the 75g-OGTT.

Aim: This study evaluated the profiles of patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) to identify sets of opinions and attitudes towards the disease that might influence self-care behaviours.

Methods: Altogether, 1,092 patients with T2DM, aged 45 or older from a large representative French cohort, completed a self-questionnaire exploring their knowledge and perceptions of diabetes, its impact on various aspects of daily life and self-management practices. Canonical and cluster analyses were used to identify sets of homogeneous 'profiles' of patients linking attitudes and opinions to specific disease-related behaviours (such as changes in lifestyle, drug compliance, treatment satisfaction, impact on everyday life and weight gain).
