Neuronal localization in the rat brain of the messenger RNA encoding calcyphosine, a new calcium-binding protein.

The cDNA encoding calcyphosine, a new calcium-binding protein of the calmodulin superfamily which is regulated by cAMP, has been cloned in the dog thyroid (EMBO J., 8 (1989) 111-116). By in situ hybridization with synthetic oligonucleotides, we here demonstrate for the first time its neuronal localization in the rat brain.

Initial observations on the distribution of cannabinoid receptor binding sites in the human adult basal ganglia using autoradiography.

The distribution of cannabinoid receptor binding sites has been studied in the basal ganglia of 3 human adults using the synthetic cannabinoid agonist [3H]CP55,940 and autoradiography. The [3H]CP55,940-specific labeling was found in the caudate, putamen, accumbens, substantia nigra pars reticulata, and globus pallidus. The binding was consistently higher in the medial over the lateral part of the globus pallidus.

Neurotensin high affinity binding sites and endopeptidase 24.11 are present respectively in the meningothelial and in the fibroblastic components of human meningiomas.

The presence of neurotensin receptors and endopeptidase 24.11 (E-24.11) in 16 human meningioma specimens, obtained at surgery, was assessed by measuring the binding of 125I-[tyrosyl3]neurotensin(1-13) (125I-NT) and the inhibitor 3H-N(2RS)-3-hydroxyaminocarbonyl-2-benzyl-1-oxopropyl)glycine (3H-HACBO-Gly), for the receptor and enzyme, respectively.
