Aims: To describe all cases of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) managed at the Italian Hospital of San Daniele del Friuli from 2006 to 2018, after the establishment of a dedicated multidisciplinary team.

Methods: Data on mothers, pregnancies, and newborns have been recorded since the team establishment. The associations of maternal, pregnancy, and delivery characteristics with complications of pregnancy and delivery and adverse birth outcomes were assessed.

Background: Intrauterine fetal death (IUFD) is a tragic event and, despite efforts to reduce rates, its incidence remains difficult to reduce. The objective of the present study was to examine the etiological factors that contribute to the main causes and conditions associated with IUFD, over an 11-year period in a region of North-East Italy (Friuli Venezia Giulia) for which reliable data in available.

Methods: Retrospective analysis of all 278 IUFD cases occurred between 2005 and 2015 in pregnancies with gestational age ≥ 23 weeks.

Many post-vulvectomy vulvar reconstruction solutions, using local fasciocutaneous flaps where possible, have been proposed. We report the use of V-Y advancement flaps from the gluteal fold in medium to large vulvar reconstructions and a simple modification we made to the technique in order to minimise wound-related complications. Between 2006 and 2016, 30 vulvar reconstructions were performed via a total of 59 flaps, 24 of which were raised using the proposed modification to the plasty design.

The triazatriangulene (TATA) ring system was investigated as a binding group for tunnel junctions of molecular wires on gold surfaces. Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of TATA platforms with three different lengths of phenylene wires were fabricated, and their electrical conductance was recorded by both conducting probe-atomic force microscopy (CP-AFM) and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). Similar measurements were performed for phenylene SAMs with thiol anchoring groups as references.

Cruciform motifs with two orthogonally oriented π-extended tetrathiafulvalenes and with differently protected thiolate end-groups are synthesized by stepwise coupling reactions. The molecules are subjected to single-molecule conductivity studies in a break-junction and to conducting probe atomic force microscopy studies in a self-assembled monolayer on gold.
