Development of ICF-based patient-reported outcome and experience measures to study social participation among people with chronic diseases: a mixed-methods protocol.

Introduction: Living with a chronic disease impacts many aspects of life, including the ability to participate in activities that enable interactions with others in society, that is, social participation (SP). Despite efforts to monitor the quality of care and life of chronically ill people in Belgium, no disease-specific patient-reported measures (PRMs) have been used. These tools are essential to understand SP and to develop evidence-based recommendations to support its improvement.

Prevalence of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease after pancreatic surgery in a historical Belgian cohort and review of the literature.

Background And Objectives: Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) has been reported as a complication after pancreatic surgery. The aim of this study is to assess this phenomenon in a Belgian population, specifically in a period in time when less perioperative chemotherapy was given.

Methods: We performed a retrospective monocentric cohort study with 124 selected patients who underwent pancreatic surgery - pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD), distal pancreatectomy (DP) or total pancreatectomy - between 2005 and 2014.

Retrospective analysis of multiparametric MRI in predicting complete pathologic response of neo-adjuvant chemotherapy in bladder cancer.

Background: Muscle invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) treatment combines systemic therapy and radical cystectomy (RC) or local (chemo-)radiotherapy. Response to systemic therapy is an important outcome predictor but is difficult to assess pre-operatively.

Methods: We analyzed multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) in consecutive MIBC patients receiving cisplatin-based neo-adjuvant chemotherapy at our institution.

Factors related to the return to work of head and neck cancer patients diagnosed between 2004-2011 in Belgium: a multivariate Fine-Gray regression model analysis.

Background: This study aims to identify the key factors that underlie the return to work (RTW) of head and neck cancer (HNC) patients in Belgium.

Methods: We used data from the EMPCAN database linking data from the Belgian Cancer Registry and the Crossroads Bank for Social Security. We selected HNC patients aged 18-60 at diagnosis who became inactive on the labour market during the follow-up time observed (n = 398).
