Short-Term Endotamponade With Perfluorocarbon Liquids for Giant Retinal Tear-Associated Retinal Detachment.

To investigate the use of short-term postoperative endotamponade with perfluorocarbon liquids (PFCLs) for the treatment of giant retinal tear-associated rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD). This retrospective study evaluated patients who had 2-stage surgery, which entailed pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) completed in 2 consecutive surgeries spaced 5 days apart, during which a short-term tamponade with PFCL was used (Group 1), and patients who had conventional single-stage PPV with long-term silicone oil (SO) tamponade (Group 2). The study comprised 74 eyes of 68 patients, 52 in Group 1 and 22 in Group 2.

Anatomical and functional outcome of surgical correction of optic disc pit maculopathy using autologous scleral patch graft: a long-term retrospective analysis.

Background: Optic disc pit (ODP) is a rare congenital anomaly of optic nerve head and is associated with maculopathy. Scleral patch graft (SPG) as a therapeutic option is recently advocated.

Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of 54 patients with ODP maculopathy who were followed up for 12 months post-operatively.

A first principles study on the stability and electronic and optical properties of 2D SbXY (X = Se/Te and Y = I/Br) Janus layers.

Motivated by the exceptional optoelectronic properties of 2D Janus layers (JLs), we explore the properties of group Va antimony-based JLs SbXY (X = Se/Te and Y = I/Br). Using Bader charges, the electric dipole moment in the out-of-plane direction of all the JLs is studied and the largest dipole moment is found to be in the SbSeI JL. Our results on the formation energy, phonon spectra, elastic constants, and molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulation provide insights into the energetic, vibrational, mechanical, and thermal stability of JLs.

Band alignment in CdS-α-Te van der Waals heterostructures for photocatalytic applications: influence of biaxial strain and electric field.

We present a comprehensive theoretical analysis of the structural and electronic properties of a van der Waals heterostructure composed of CdS and α-Te single layers (SLs). The investigation includes an in-depth study of fundamental structural, electronic, and optical properties with a focus on their implications for photocatalytic applications. The findings reveal that the α-Te SL significantly influences the electronic properties of the heterostructure.

Anatomic and Visual Outcomes of Scleral Buckle in Primary Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment in the Era of Pars Plana Vitrectomy.

To determine the presenting clinical characteristics of patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) who underwent scleral buckling and the impact on final visual outcomes and to determine the postoperative primary attachment rate, complications, and subsequent management. This retrospective observational study comprised patients with RRD who had scleral buckling surgery from January 2016 to December 2021 with a minimum follow-up of 6 months. The study comprised 307 eyes of 290 patients; 97% of eyes were phakic.
