Background: With the COVID-19 emergency, the provision of healthcare had to be reorganized. Community Health Services for Families of Trieste adopted new methods to ensure continuity of care and the maintenance of the Standards and Good Practices of the Baby Friendly Initiative of UNICEF for the Birth Care Pathway. The aim of the study was to identify the perceived needs of women, couples, caregivers, and health professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic and evaluate new healthcare strategies, identifying weaknesses and strengths, and future developments.

A method to synthesize cofacial dimeric porphyrins bearing eight corannulene units has been developed. It relies on the stability of octahedral CO-capped Ru(II) complexes linked by N-donor ligands. This specific arrangement provides an optimal scaffold to accommodate fullerenes by imposing corannulene groups at a precise distance and relative orientation.

Modeling microbial interactions as sparse and reproducible networks is a major challenge in microbial ecology. Direct interactions between the microbial species of a biome can help to understand the mechanisms through which microbial communities influence the system. Most state-of-the art methods reconstruct networks from abundance data using Gaussian Graphical Models, for which several statistically grounded and computationnally efficient inference approaches are available.

Article Synopsis
  • The eastern hellbender salamander is endangered and suffers from chytridiomycosis, a fungal disease primarily caused by Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd), leading to symptoms like skin shedding and death.
  • At Purdue University, 33% of hellbenders experienced mortality; autopsies revealed chytridiomycosis and a co-infection with Aeromonas hydrophila.
  • The outbreak was attributed to environmental stress from filtration failure; after treatment, surviving salamanders have remained healthy for over a year and were released back into the wild.

[]Cycloparaphenylenes ([]CPPs) are strained macrocycles, comprising only sp-hybridized carbon atoms. In recent years, []CPPs have become of great research interest in the field of supramolecular chemistry since their special structure enables the formation of novel host-guest complexes. In this work, we investigate the gas-phase chemistry of noncovalent complexes of [10-12]CPP with the pristine fullerenes C and the endohedral metallofullerenes (EMFs) ScN@-C, ScN@-C and MN@-C (M = Sc, Y, Lu, Gd).
