Article Synopsis
  • Most schoolchildren have a normal nutritional status, but there is a concerning prevalence of overweight and obesity among children and teenagers due to factors like poor diet, lifestyle, and educational influences.
  • The correction of socio-hygienic factors is crucial for improving nutritional status, emphasizing the need for effective hygiene education and promoting a healthy lifestyle from a young age.
  • A structured algorithm for controlling nutrition includes creating a supportive healthcare environment, optimizing diet and physical activity, and providing psychological support to address any nutritional disorders.

The authors made a complex evaluation of the physical development of 7-16-year-old rural schoolchildren from a large administrative territorial entity and developed age-gender-related standards, by using the percentile technique. There were significant morphofunctional differences between the urban and rural schoolchildren at the present stage of a secular trend, which determines the necessity of developing the physical development standards for rural children and adolescents in order to correctly interpret the data on their health status.

The dose-rate effect of acute and chronic irradiation in the dose of 0.2 Gy in Drosophila melanogaster repair (mei-41, mus209 [Russian character: see text] mus309) and free radicals detoxication (sod) mutant strains was investigated. Was shown the lack of dose rate effect on the rate of dominant lethal mutations in mei-41, mus209 and sod.

The effect of high intensity (photosynthesis-saturating) light on the optical properties of the bacteriochlorophyll and the light-induced H+ uptake by R. rubrum chromatophores was studied. It was shown that under aerobic conditions illumination causes reversible inhibition (in the dark) of the chromatophore ability for the light-induced uptake of H+, a reversible inhibition of the photosynthetical reaction center function and irreversible bleaching of the antennal bacteriochlorophyll.

The effects of detergents (Triton X-100) and solvents (diethyl ether, metanol) on the reversible light-induced proton uptake, photophosphorylation and band shift of the carotenoid in chromatophores from R. rubrum are described. All these compounds were found to stimulate the extent of light-induced proton uptake with subsequent inhibition when the concentrations were increased.
