Preformed Ni(0) complexes are rarely used as precatalysts in cross-coupling reactions, although they can incorporate catalytically active nickel directly into the reaction. In this work, we focus on the preparation and the catalytic application of low-coordinate Ni(0) complexes supported by bulky monophosphine ligands in C-S cross-coupling reactions. We have prepared two families of Ni(0) complexes, bis-phosphine aducts of the type [Ni(PRAr')] (Ar' = -terphenyl group) and monophosphine derivatives of the type [Ni(PRAr')(DVDS)] (DVDS = divinyltetramethyldisiloxane).

Rationale: Asthma attacks (AA) are potentially life-threatening complications of asthma associated with high levels of morbidity, mortality and rising healthcare costs. Patient experience, impact and understanding of AA is poorly described in the literature. Enhanced understanding will identify unmet needs in asthma care and support the development of improved personalized strategies for managing and preventing attacks.

Unlabelled: Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) modulates numerous cellular pathways to facilitate infection, including key components in cellular iron homeostasis. Iron is essential to many cellular processes but, if present in excess, drives cell death through ferroptosis. Ferroptosis is a process that is dependent upon the accumulation of oxidatively damaged phospholipids (lipid peroxides); when these lipid peroxides accumulate in membranes, this culminates in plasma membrane rupture and eventual cell lysis.
