Severe air pollution and foggy conditions during winter are persistent challenges, pose significant health hazards, and disrupt daily routines worldwide. In this study, we have investigated the conditions favoring the prolonged fog events in Delhi during January 2024 using observations, back trajectories, and reanalysis datasets. Analysis of visibility observations reveals that foggy (54, 121, 139, and 372 half-hours of very dense, dense, moderate, and shallow fog, respectively) conditions persisted in Delhi for 46 % of the time during the study period.

Recent literature reports highlight the importance of the renal outer medullary potassium (ROMK) channel in renal sodium and potassium homeostasis and emphasize the potential impact that ROMK inhibitors could have as a novel mechanism diuretic in heart failure patients. A series of piperazine-based ROMK inhibitors were designed and optimized to achieve excellent ROMK potency, hERG selectivity, and ADME properties, which led to the identification of compound (BMS-986308). BMS-986308 demonstrated efficacy in the volume-loaded rat diuresis model as well as promising in vitro and in vivo profiles and was therefore advanced to clinical development.

Diverse dopamine (DA) pathways send distinct reinforcement signals to different striatal regions. In adult songbirds, a DA pathway from the ventral tegmental area (VTA) to Area X, the striatal nucleus of the song system, carries singing-related performance error signals important for learning. Meanwhile, a parallel DA pathway to a medial striatal area (MST) arises from a distinct group of neighboring DA neurons that lack connectivity to song circuits and do not encode song error.
