Ocular Neuromyotonia: Case Reports and Literature Review.

Ocular neuromyotonia (ONM) is a rare eye movement disorder, presenting as a paroxysmal involuntary spasm of one or more extra-ocular muscles, that can persist for a few seconds up to several minutes. The phenomenon is caused by the contraction of an extra-ocular muscle, excited by a damaged nerve, which leads to delayed muscle relaxation. We present eight patients with this rare condition together with an overview of the literature on all published ONM cases.

Results of compensatory extraocular muscle surgery after macular translocation.

Purpose: Macular translocation is an optional surgical treatment for age-related macular degeneration. However, this technique induces postoperative torsional complaints and surgical counterrotation of the globe is mandatory. The purpose of this study is to report the effect of compensatory extraocular muscle surgery upon the torsional complaints in patients who underwent a macular translocation procedure.

Torsional diplopia in Graves' orbitopathy. Three case reports.

Torsional diplopia may frequently accompany Graves' orbitopathy and is often not recognized. Some patients with manifest cyclotorsion do not complain of torsional diplopia because it is concealed by the large vertical and/or horizontal deviation. Torsional diplopia can occur spontaneously or appear after decompression or strabismus surgery.

Diplopia from skew deviation in Ramsey-Hunt syndrome. A case report.

Object: Presentation of a 34-year-old pregnant woman with skew deviation due to peripheral vestibular dysfunction caused by herpes zoster oticus.

Methods: A multidisciplinary approach (neuroophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, neuroradiology) revealed the diagnosis of Ramsey-Hunt syndrome.

Case Report: The patient presented with painful herpes zoster vesicles of the left ear, associated with a rotatory vertigo and hearing loss.
