Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder involving mitochondrial dysfunction and consequent production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), generated after amyloid peptide (Aβ42) accumulation. In this study, we isolated a new antioxidant molecule from the sun coral Tubastraea tagusensis and analysed it in cells exposed to oligomeric amyloid-beta peptide 1-42 (oAβ42). The coral was collected and immersed in methanol for the release of compounds, which were submitted to antioxidant DPPH and FRAP activity-guided fractionation using solid-phase extraction and HPLC.

Usefulness of simplified comprehensive geriatric assessment as a pre-ERCP screening for the elderly.

Background: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is often performed in elderly patients for stone removal and biliary drainage following common bile duct stones or malignant biliary obstruction. Safety in ERCP should be considered in elderly patients due to complications and decreased activities of daily living (ADL), but there are no adequate pretest evaluation criteria. In recent years, the usefulness of the comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) for planning treatment and predicting prognosis has been reported.

A Case Report of Long-Term Survival Achieved by Nivolumab and Hyperthermia With Multiple Local Therapies for the Peritoneal Dissemination of Gastric Cancer.

A 60-year-old male with recurrent metastatic gastric cancer achieved long-term survival with nivolumab, hyperthermia, and local multisite therapy. The patient had a history of multiple relapses despite receiving standard treatment. After the failure of multiple lines of chemotherapy, nivolumab and hyperthermia were initiated.
