Aim      To evaluate the effect of cryo-exposure duration and the use of the Achieve circular mapping catheter on efficacy of cryoballoon ablation (CBA).Material and methods  CBA of pulmonary vein ostia (PVO) is a major method for heart rhythm control in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Since the inception, the PVO CBA method has evolved; the recommended application time was changed, and the Achieve circular catheter appeared.

Background: A high incidence of asymptomatic atrial tachycardia and atrial fibrillation (AT/AF) has been recognized in patients with cardiac implantable devices (CIED). The clinical significance of these AT/AF episodes remains unclear. Some "device-detected AT/AF" was previously shown to be triggered by competitive atrial pacing (CAP).

The structural, magnetic, electrical, and dilatation properties of the rare-earth NdCoO and SmCoO cobaltites were investigated. Their comparative analysis was carried out and the effect of multiplicity fluctuations on physical properties of the studied cobaltites was considered. Correlations between the spin state change of cobalt ions and the temperature dependence anomalies of the lattice parameters, magnetic susceptibility, volume thermal expansion coefficient, and electrical resistance have been revealed.

Thermal and dielectric studies of (ND)MoOF crystals undergoing successive phase transitions at T = 272 K and T = 181 K showed that deuteration is accompanied by an increase in the chemical pressure in the crystal lattice (Δp ≈ 0.02 GPa), which shifts the Cmcm ↔ Pnma transformation for the first order to the tricritical point. The direct participation of ammonium groups in the mechanism of structural distortions is demonstrated by a decrease in the entropy of the high-temperature phase transition (ΔS = R ln 6.
