Microplastics are an emerging pollutant of concern, with environmental observations recorded across the world. Identifying the type of microplastic is challenging due to spectral similarities among the most common polymers, necessitating methods that can confidently distinguish plastic identities. In practice, a researcher chooses the reference vibrational spectrum that is most like the unknown spectrum, where the likeness between the two spectra is expressed numerically as the hit quality index (HQI).

Methods: 1298 wearable device users and nonusers living with diabetes from eight states of the 2017 Behavioral Risk Factors Surveillance System were included in the analysis. Unadjusted and adjusted linear regression was performed to determine the association between self-reported physical activity per week (min) and wearable device usage (users and nonusers) among people living with diabetes using survey analysis.
Background And Importance: Following the return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA), a low body temperature on arrival at the hospital and on admission to the ICU is reportedly associated with increased mortality. Whether this association exists in the prehospital setting, however, is unknown.
Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate whether the initial, prehospital core temperature measured post-ROSC is independently associated with survival to hospital discharge in adult patients following OHCA.
We find evidence of selection for local adaptation and extensive genotype-by-environment interaction in the potato National Chip Processing Trial (NCPT). We present a novel method for dissecting the interplay between selection, local adaptation and environmental response in plant breeding schemes. Balancing local adaptation and the desire for widely adapted cultivars is challenging for plant breeders and makes genotype-by-environment interactions (GxE) an important target of selection.

Sensory-motor dysfunction, such as visual processing impairment, is also common in early disease and can impact neuropsychological task performance in MS. However, cognitive phenotype research in MS does not currently consider the relationship between early cognitive changes and visual processing impairment.
