Background: The increasing prevalence of heated tobacco products (HTPs) has heightened concerns regarding their potential health risks. Previous studies have demonstrated the toxicity of cigarette smoke extract (CSE) from traditional tobacco's mainstream smoke, even after the removal of nicotine and tar. Our study aimed to investigate the cytotoxicity of CSE derived from HTPs and traditional tobacco, with a particular focus on the role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and intracellular Ca.

Aims: To investigate the relationship between nocturia and values measured using a novel multifunctional portable urine-measuring device.

Methods: Thirty-five older men with nocturia and/or high-normal or high blood pressure were enrolled to record measurements on one full day (24 h) and two nights using the portable device during urination. Participants used a semi-conical cup with a small hole equipped with a conductivity sensor, temperature sensor, and timer to measure urine volume, salt content, urine temperature, and urination speed.

Objective Applying carbon ion beams, which have high linear energy transfer and low scatter within the human body, to Spatially Fractionated Radiation Therapy (SFRT) could benefit the treatment of deep-seated or radioresistant tumors. This study aims to simulate the dose distributions of spatially fractionated beams (SFB) to accurately determine the delivered dose and model the cell survival rate following SFB irradiation. Approach Dose distributions of carbon ion beams are calculated using the Triple Gaussian Model.

Periodontitis was reported to be associated with aspiration pneumonia. However, the relationship between periodontitis and aspiration pneumonia remains unclear. This study investigated the virulence factor of Porphyromonas gingivalis, which exacerbates aspiration pneumonia, and the role of IL-35, an inhibitory heterodimeric cytokine of EBI3 and p35, in aspiration pneumonia using Ebi3 knockout (KO) mice.
