Complete resection of recurrent anal canal cancer using endoscopic submucosal dissection and transanal resection: A case report.

Background: Early anal canal cancer is frequently treated with endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) to preserve anal function. However, if the lesion is in the anal canal, then significant difficulties such as bleeding and challenges associated with scope manipulation can arise.

Case Summary: A 70-year-old woman undergoing follow-up after transverse colon cancer surgery was diagnosed with anal canal cancer extending to the dentate line.

Prognostic value of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes and PD-L1 expression in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

Background: Tumor cells (TC) participate in tumor progression by altering the immune responses in the tumor microenvironment. However, the clinical relevance and prognostic effect of PD-L1 expression and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) are unknown. The purpose of this study was to investigate the interactions and clinical significance of PD-L1 expression and TILs in ESCC.

Multicenter retrospective analysis of complications and risk factors in endoscopic resection for esophageal cancer across Japan.

Background: Endoscopic resection (ER) is a minimally invasive treatment for esophageal cancer that sometimes causes complications. To understand the real-world incidence and risk factors for these complications, a nationwide survey was conducted across Japan.

Methods: This retrospective multicenter study included patients who underwent ER for esophageal cancer from April 2017 to March 2018 (2017 complication analysis) and April 2021 to March 2022 (2021 complication analysis).

A 73-year-old woman was referred to our hospital with a chief complaint of black stools and abdominal distention. She was diagnosed with advanced gastric cancer with pyloric stenosis and multiple lymph node metastasis(cT4aN3M0, cStage Ⅲ)and was administered preoperative chemotherapy after laparoscopy and gastric jejunal bypass surgery.
