The presence of Kisspeptin (Kp) and its receptors in the corpus luteum (CL) of buffalo has recently been demonstrated. In this study, we investigated the role of Kp in the modulation of progesterone (P) synthesis in vitro. The primary culture of bubaline luteal cells (LCs) was treated with 10, 50, and 100 nM of Kp and Kp antagonist (KpA) alongside a vehicle control.

Comparison of Immunocytochemistry and Immunohistochemistry on Breast Carcinoma: A Boon or a Bane?

Introduction: Breast carcinoma is the most common cancer among women in the urban Indian population. Conventionally, immunohistochemistry (IHC) is done to determine the hormone receptor status of the tumor. Immunocytochemistry (ICC) on fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) was carried out to determine the same hormone receptor status of the tumor.

Carcinoid tumour of appendix in a child: a rare case at an uncommon site.

Carcinoid tumours of the appendix are uncommon incidentally detected tumours during histopathological examination following appendicectomy for acute appendicitis. Even though considered rare in children, they are the most frequently encountered tumours of the gastrointestinal tract. To our knowledge, carcinoid tumour of appendix in childhood has not yet been reported from Indian Subcontinent.

Pigmented Paget's disease of nipple: A diagnostic challenge on cytology.

Paget's disease is a rare form of breast cancer often associated with an underlying ductal carcinoma in situ or invasive cancer. A 47-year-old female patient presented with bleeding from the left nipple since 4 months. Imprint smears from the lesion showed pleomorphic malignant epithelial cells in singles and in small clusters, many of them containing dark brown cytoplasmic pigment granules.

Solitary intramammary schwannoma mimicking phylloides tumor: Cytological clues in the diagnosis.

A 30-year-old woman presented with a huge exophytic lobulated mass in the right breast, clinically and radiologically resembling phylloides tumor. Fine needle aspiration cytology smears showed clusters and singly scattered spindle cells along with structures reminiscent of verocay bodies. However, the epithelial elements were absent.
