Angelman Syndrome (AS) is a neurodevelopmental disorder caused by the loss of function of ubiquitin-protein ligase E3A (UBE3A), resulting in marked changes in synaptic plasticity. In AS mice, a dysregulation of Ca/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II alpha (CaMKIIα) was previously described. This has been convincingly validated through genetic rescue of prominent phenotypes in mouse cross-breeding experiments.

False-positive, contaminated cultures are associated with prolonged hospital stays, increased antibiotic usage and even higher hospital mortality rates. This trial aims to investigate whether a recently developed and validated machine learning model for predicting blood culture outcomes can safely and effectively guide clinicians in withholding unnecessary blood culture analysis.

We aimed to further develop the extrapolated norms (e-norms) method for obtaining NCS reference limits from historical laboratory datasets for children and adults, and to validate it against traditionally derived reference limits.
Methods: We compared reference limits obtained by applying a further developed e-norms with reference limits from healthy controls for the age strata's 9-18, 20-44 and 45-60 years old.
Objectives: Although illness severity scoring systems are widely used to support clinical decision-making and assess ICU performance, their potential bias across different age, sex, and primary language groups has not been well-studied.
Design Setting And Patients: We aimed to identify potential bias of Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) and Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) IVa scores via large ICU databases.
Setting/patients: This multicenter, retrospective study was conducted using data from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care (MIMIC) and eICU Collaborative Research Database.
