Salts of 2-amino-5-iodo-pyridinium.

Acta Crystallogr E Crystallogr Commun

October 2024

Reaction of 2-amino-5-iodo-pyridine (5IAP) with concentrated HBr at room temperature yielded 2-amino-5-iodo-pyridinium bromide, CHIN ·Br or (5IAPH)Br. The complex formed pale-yellow crystals, which exhibit significant hydrogen bonding between the amino and pyridinium N-H donors and bromide ion acceptors. Halogen bonding is also observed.

Article Synopsis
  • Nonstructural carbohydrates (NSC) in leaves relate to photosynthesis and respiration, influencing plant strategies.
  • A study involving 114 species showed that total NSC concentrations varied widely but generally didn't correlate with leaf gas exchange or economic traits.
  • However, species with higher photosynthesis had shorter NSC residence times, indicating that daily carbon gain is mainly exported rather than stored.

An approach to improving radiation use efficiency (RUE) in wheat is to screen for variability in rates of leaf respiration in darkness (Rdark). We used a high-throughput system to quantify variation in Rdark among a diverse range of spring wheat genotypes (301 lines) grown in two countries (Mexico and Australia) and two seasons (2017 and 2018), and in doing so quantify the relative importance of genotype (G) and environment (E) in influencing variations in leaf Rdark. Through careful design, residual (unexplained) variation represented less than 10% of the total observed.

Article Synopsis
  • The Asia Pacific's middle-income countries have special challenges in improving their primary care systems, especially with aging populations and more chronic diseases.
  • Family doctors are really important in connecting hospitals and communities and addressing various health issues.
  • The review used research from the last decade to understand how family doctors' roles are affected by changes in health policies and their impact on healthcare at different levels.

The reaction of nickel(II) chloride with 3-meth-oxy-aniline yielded di-chlorido-tetra-kis-(3-meth-oxy-aniline)nickel(II), [NiCl(CHNO)], as yellow crystals. The Ni ion is pseudo-octa-hedral with the chloride ions to each other. The four 3-meth-oxy-aniline ligands differ primarily due to different conformations about the Ni-N bond, which also affect the hydrogen bonding.
