Article Synopsis
  • ADHD is often linked with insomnia, anxiety, and depression, and researchers found variations in the circadian clock gene CRY1 in families with ADHD and insomnia.
  • One specific variant, CRY1Δ11, is relatively common among Europeans and may serve as a diagnostic and therapeutic marker for ADHD and associated sleep disorders.
  • The study also showed that CRY1Δ11 correlates with conditions like major depressive disorder and anxiety, leading to the proposal of a new category of disorders called "circiatric" disorders.
