Lessons Learned: Intravenous paricalcitol did not improve the efficacy of pembrolizumab, likely related to the short half-life.
Background: Immunotherapy has limited benefit in the treatment of advanced pancreatic cancer with the tumor microenvironment playing a key role in immune resistance. In preclinical studies, vitamin D receptor (VDR) agonists have been shown to sensitize pancreatic tumors to PD-1 blockade.

Nutritional status is a determining factor for growth during development and homeostatic maintenance in adulthood. In the context of muscle, growth hormone (GH) coordinates growth with nutritional status; however, the detailed mechanisms remain to be fully elucidated. Here, we show that the transcriptional repressor B cell lymphoma 6 (BCL6) maintains muscle mass by sustaining GH action.

However, there is a paucity of data regarding the specific location of angioembolization within the hepatic arterial vasculature and its implications on patient outcomes.
Methods: A post-hoc analysis of a multicenter prospective observational study across 23 centers was performed.
Background: Chronic pain is highly prevalent in US military Veterans, and pain interdisciplinary teams (IDTs) are the gold standard in pain care. There is no standard or guidance for how best to develop and implement pain interdisciplinary teams within complex health care systems.
Objectives: The purpose of this quality improvement project was to evaluate the effectiveness of the standard 9-step Lean 6 Sigma (LSS) methodology in redesigning a pre-existing VA outpatient pain clinic solely offering interventional pain services into an efficient, sustainable pain IDT program.
Background: Prior studies evaluating observation versus angioembolization (AE) for blunt liver injuries (BLT) with contrast extravasation (CE) on computed tomography imaging have yielded inconsistent conclusions, primarily due to limitations in single-center and/or retrospective study design. Therefore, this multicenter study aims to compare an observation versus AE-first approach for BLT, hypothesizing decreased liver-related complications (LRCs) with observation.
Methods: We conducted a post hoc analysis of a multicenter, prospective observational study (2019-2021) across 23 centers.
