We present the case of a 47-year-old woman with a bulky, nascent necrotic myoma, which at first glance appeared to be a malignant process in the cervix. It caused significant retention of urine due to compression of the bladder and ureters, hydronephrosis and deterioration of renal function. A fully developed picture of the "bulge syndrome" dominated - lymphedema of the lower limbs and lower abdomen, pain in the lower abdomen, constipation, secondary secondary urinary infection, and paradoxical ischuria.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA new type of axially chiral sulfonic acid was developed. The synthesis is based on cheap commercially available materials and a practical method for optical resolution via diastereomeric salt formation, which can provide both enantiomers. Eleven benzoimidazolylnaphthalenesulfonic acids were prepared and four of them were isolated as pure and stable atropisomers.

This report delineates a mechanism by which fibroblast growth factor (FGF) controls primary cilia. Employing proteomic approaches to characterize proteins associated with the FGF-receptor, FGFR3, we identified the serine/threonine kinase intestinal cell kinase (ICK) as an FGFR interactor.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA general and efficient synthesis of 4-substituted-1H-pyrazole-3,5-diamines was developed to access derivatives with an aryl, heteroaryl, or styryl group, which are otherwise relatively difficult to prepare. The first step is based on the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction utilizing the XPhos Pd G2 precatalyst. The coupling reactions of 4-bromo-3,5-dinitro-1H-pyrazole with the electron-rich/deficient or sterically demanding boronic acids enabled the production of the corresponding dinitropyrazoles.
