Unlabelled: Forests are key components of European multifunctional landscapes and supply numerous forest ecosystem services (FES) fundamental to human well-being. The sustainable provision of FES has the potential to provide responses to major societal challenges, such as climate change, biodiversity loss, or rural development. To identify suitable strategies for the future sustenance of FES, we performed a solution scanning exercise with a group of transdisciplinary forest and FES experts from different European regions.

Yet, small plot sizes, societal heterogeneity, and structural changes impede developing and implementing effective conservation programs in private forests. We present a systematic literature review focusing on small-scale private forest owners and their perspectives on nature conservation by synthesizing research approaches, social-ecological drivers, and policy recommendations.

The search described here concentrated on mutations of the HL gene in 129 patients with combined hypertriglyceridemia/hyperalphalipoproteinemia and in 184 members of 19 families with familial combined hyperlipidemia. Controls were 100 subjects with favorable lipid values (age 46-51 years).

In humans, overproduction of apolipoprotein B (apoB) is positively associated with premature coronary artery diseases. To modulate apoB gene expression, we designed hammerhead ribozymes targeted at AUA(6665) and GUA(6679) of apoB mRNA, designated RB16 and RB15, respectively, and investigated their effects on apoB mRNA in HepG2 cells.
