Optimization of these features might improve the recovery process. Whereas recent data indicate that the endocannabinoid system, and more particularly cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) antagonism, is involved in the regulation of inflammatory, myogenic, fibrotic, apoptotic and anabolic pathways, it was never studied whether CB1 antagonism can improve muscle regeneration.

Methods: Data on 8 indicators of cardiometabolic health, 21 anthropometric measures, and 11 anthropometric indices were available for 216 twin pairs of individuals age 3 to 18 years living in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, Portugal (51% girls). Genetic twin modeling was used to estimate genetic and environmental correlations between the cardiometabolic and anthropometric indicators.

Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) exerts analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects in clinical pain conditions and preclinical models of experimentally induced inflammation. Methods: Physical fitness was assessed in 198 Portuguese twin pairs (6-18 yr old, 40% monozygotic) through 15 tests from the Eurofit and Fitnessgram test batteries. Genetic twin modeling was used to estimate the heritability of each test and the genetic correlations between them.
