The temporal trend of aboveground net primary production (ANPP) is frequently used to estimate the effect of humans on ecosystems. In water-limited ecosystems, like most grazing areas in the world, the effect of humans act upon ANPP in combination with environmental variations. Our main objective was to quantify long-term (1981-2012) changes of ANPP and discriminate the causes of these changes between environmental and human at a subcontinental scale, across vast areas of Patagonia.

Dual origin of vertebral artery and intimal relationship with spontaneous artery dissection: a case report and systematic review.

Dual origin of the vertebral artery (VA) is an uncommon anatomical variation. We describe a case of duplication origin at right vertebral artery (RVA) found incidentally in one elderly patient on investigation for cerebral aneurysm. Angiogram study showed a pseudoaneurysm at V4 segment of the RVA associated with embryological anatomy.

Arthritogenic alphaviruses: epidemiological and clinical perspective on emerging arboviruses.

Mosquito-borne viruses, or arboviruses, have been part of the infectious disease landscape for centuries, and are often, but not exclusively, endemic to equatorial and subtropical regions of the world. The past two decades saw the re-emergence of arthritogenic alphaviruses, a genus of arboviruses that includes several members that cause severe arthritic disease. Recent outbreaks further highlight the substantial public health burden caused by these viruses.
