Profiling wastewater characteristics in intra-urban catchments using online monitoring stations.

This study aims to investigate the differences in intra-urban catchments with different characteristics through real-time wastewater monitoring. Monitoring stations were installed in three neighbourhoods of Barcelona to measure flow, total chemical oxygen demand (COD), pH, conductivity, temperature, and bisulfide (HS) for 1 year. Typical wastewater profiles were obtained for weekdays, weekends, and holidays in the summer and winter seasons.

Is urinary density an adequate predictor of urinary osmolality?

Background: Urinary density (UD) has been routinely used for decades as a surrogate marker for urine osmolality (Uosm). We asked if UD can accurately estimate Uosm both in healthy subjects and in different clinical scenarios of kidney disease.

Methods: UD was assessed by refractometry.

Long-term remission and recurrence rate in a cohort of Cushing's disease: the need for long-term follow-up.

Objective: Transsphenoidal surgery is the procedure of choice in Cushing disease (CD), with immediate post-operative remission rates ranging between 59 and 94% and recurrence rates between 3 and 46%, both depending upon the definition criteria and the duration of the follow-up. Our aim was to assess the rate of remission, recurrence and persistence of the disease after the first treatment and to identify predictors of remission in the CD population of our center.

Methods: Retrospective cohort study of the patients diagnosed of CD and with follow-up in our center between 1974 and 2011.
