Purpose: Central venous catheter (CVC) insertion is a fundamental skill required for trainees to become proficient. Simulation-based training (SBT) has been shown to improve trainees' CVC insertion performance effectively. However, implementing a CVC curriculum requires substantial costs and resources.

Background: The forces underlying convergence and internalization of the teleost neural plate remain unknown. To help understand this morphogenesis, we analyzed collective and individual cell behaviors at the superficial surface of the neural plate as internalization begins to form the neural keel in the hindbrain region of the zebrafish embryo.

Results: Convergence to the midline is not accompanied by anteroposterior elongation at this stage, and it is characterized by oscillatory contractile behaviors at the superficial surface of the neural plate, a punctate distribution of Cdh2 and medially polarized actin-rich protrusions at the surface of the neural plate.

Low oxygen (O2) affinity hemoglobin (Hb) variants are a group of structural hemoglobinopathies, caused in most cases by point mutations in beta or alpha globin genes. The clinical presentation is widely variable, from asymptomatic patients to those presenting cyanosis and/or low O 2 saturation without signs of chronic hypoxia. Accurate identification of these patients is essential to avoid invasive cardiorespiratory procedures that could be unnecessary.

This study examined the concurrent effects of social isolation and elder mistreatment on mental distress in older Korean Americans (= 2,122, Mean age = 73.4). Approximately 44% experienced mistreatment, with 32% exposed to a single type and 12% to multiple types (polyvictimization).

Cross-species single-cell RNA-seq data hold immense potential for unraveling cell type evolution and transferring knowledge between well-explored and less-studied species. However, challenges arise from interspecific genetic variation, batch effects stemming from experimental discrepancies and inherent individual biological differences. Here, we benchmarked nine data-integration methods across 20 species, encompassing 4.
